A laptop that will not start is a symptom, not a fault. It could be the charger, the battery, the power circuit, the memory, the storage or the board. Working out which one is the entire job.
There is an important difference between a laptop that does nothing at all and one that powers up but shows nothing on screen. The first points at the power chain: adapter, charging circuit, power button, or a board fault. The second means the laptop is running, so the problem is more likely the display, the memory or the graphics.
Getting that distinction right at the start saves a lot of wasted work. It is the difference between testing power rails and testing an external monitor, and it is why we ask what exactly happens when you press the button.
We start outside the laptop. Testing the adapter output and trying a known good charger rules out the single most common cause in a couple of minutes, and it costs you nothing.
Next we separate power from display. Removing the battery and running on mains, checking for any response at all, and connecting an external monitor tells us whether the laptop is actually running behind a dead screen.
From there we work through the chain: memory reseated and tested one module at a time, storage disconnected to see whether the laptop reaches its firmware screen, then the power rails on the board measured to find where the chain stops.
You get the finding and a clear price before any repair starts. If the laptop is not economic to repair, we tell you, and we make sure you can get your data off it either way.
The same five steps every time, so you always know where your laptop is and what it is going to cost.
We find out what has actually failed rather than replacing the part the symptom points at.
You get told what is wrong, what it will cost and whether the repair is worth doing, before any work starts.
The work is done on the bench with the right parts for your model, not a near enough substitute.
We run the laptop properly afterwards to confirm the fault is gone and nothing else has been disturbed.

Possibly, but not necessarily. It can also be the memory, the graphics chip or the display cable. Connecting an external monitor separates those quickly.
Straightforward faults are usually identified the same day. Intermittent faults take longer because we have to reproduce them before we can be confident about the cause.
In most cases yes. The storage drive is usually unaffected by a power or board fault and can be read separately.
Often. A surge usually damages a specific part of the power circuit rather than everything, and that part can be replaced.
Tell us what your laptop is doing and we will tell you what it needs. Diagnosis first, then a clear price, then the repair.
