A clean installation fixes a lot of problems that are not worth chasing individually. We back up your data first, install properly, and set up every driver so nothing is left missing afterwards.
A reinstall makes sense when the system has accumulated years of half-removed software and failed updates, when a malware cleanup has left the system unstable, when Windows will no longer boot or update, or when a drive has been replaced and the system needs to be set up from scratch.
It is not always the right answer. A laptop that is slow because it has a mechanical hard drive will be exactly as slow after a fresh install, because the bottleneck is the hardware. We check that before recommending a reinstall, because it is frustrating to lose a day to one and get nothing back.
Your data is backed up before anything is erased, and we confirm with you what needs saving: documents, photos, browser bookmarks and saved passwords, email data, and any application settings that matter.
We install a genuine, current version of the operating system, then work through the drivers properly: chipset, graphics, wireless, audio, trackpad and card reader. A reinstall where the trackpad gestures no longer work or the wireless is unstable is a job half done.
Then we restore your data, set up the essentials, apply the pending updates, confirm the system activates correctly and check that everything works before you take it away.
The same five steps every time, so you always know where your laptop is and what it is going to cost.
We find out what has actually failed rather than replacing the part the symptom points at.
You get told what is wrong, what it will cost and whether the repair is worth doing, before any work starts.
The work is done on the bench with the right parts for your model, not a near enough substitute.
We run the laptop properly afterwards to confirm the fault is gone and nothing else has been disturbed.

Not if we do the backup first, which is standard. We confirm with you exactly what needs keeping before anything is erased.
Many laptops have a licence embedded in the firmware and reactivate automatically. Where yours does not, we will tell you what is needed rather than installing something that cannot be activated.
It helps if the slowness is software related. If the laptop still has a mechanical hard drive, that is the actual bottleneck and an SSD is the upgrade that makes the difference.
Yes, we can install and set up Linux if that is what you need.
Usually within a day, depending on how much data needs backing up and restoring and how many updates the system has to work through.
Tell us what your laptop is doing and we will tell you what it needs. Diagnosis first, then a clear price, then the repair.
